Came for a few days and stayed three weeks. I could live here. The hotel is
close to the beach, has great, friendly staff and owners, who live on the premises. The restaurant has a choice of Thai and Weston dishes and the chief will cook any Thai dish you ask for if he has the ingredients.
If you want exceptional value in a friendly family run hotel, then this is the place.
We had only planned to stay here for a few nights, but ended up spending our whole holiday here. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, and the location could not be better - right next to the beach. With Surin Beach being one of the most beautiful of Phuket, this was a big plus point. The restaurant was delicious, and we had several meals here. The owners Terry and Mai were very helpful and friendly, as were all the staff. OK, so there isn't a swimming pool, it isn't a five star hotel, but for the price we thought we got great value for money. Oh, and the free wifi is excellent, which is a rarity in Phuket hotels. We are looking forward to coming back again next year.
stayed here 2 years ago when we found the Inn by chance, we had two nights back then and found the experience really enjoyable. Jan 2011 had nine nights here, so easy to book online direct with the owner, was really helpful finding out the timetable for the ferries to Phi Phi island for us and also sending a driver to pick us up from the airport to take us to the ferry port and picked us up from the ferry port to take us to the hotel. Yes the rooms are slightly tired looking now but the facilities and the price plus the english breakfast are second to none. The staff are so helpful and the meals in the restaurant are fantastic, nothing is any trouble at all. I would come back to stay here time after time. Surin beach is quite an exclusive resort which boasts some fine dining on the beach front. If you want the bright lights and the noisy nightlife then a taxi to patong is 500 baht each way.
We booked 2 rooms here for one night, on our last night in Phuket. The staff were good, the area was nice. The twin room was pretty cramped but the double was ok. The bathrooms were good and spacious. Ear plugs are a must as there is a very loud compressor outside the window that goes on and off all night. Apart from that it was very quiet. The wifi did not work at all during the day, but luckily it came back on at night as we had flights to confirm etc. Pre book your own transport to the airport unless you want to be overcharged by the taxis outside. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Surin Beach, as it is a fraction of the price of all the resorts here.
Nice friendly place only a few hundred yards to the fantastic Surin Bay beach. The rooms are very clean & nice sized, quiet, have proper AC, & are well laid out. You can have whatever you want for breakfast (included) whenever you want it. Yup, anytime, so if you arrive late & sleep in you are still in luck! The owners live on the top floor so are always around & very willing to give advice or help out. The WiFi is free too, which is rather uncommon in many hotels in Phuket.
This facility is small and intimate. The staff recognizes the guests and are all friendly. The beach is top notch and only about 250 yards/meters from the front door of the hotel and no hawkers on the way. Excellent restaurants are within easy walking distance: both on the beach and otherwise. The owner/manager is most accommodating. The price is most reasonable. There is a taxi stand just across the street and a tuk-tuk location at the end of the block.
We had a room overlooking the street with a small balcony. We recommend that one pays the premium to be on the front even though the "beach view" description is a misnomer. The trees are too tall to see the beach.
The rooms are nice and clean. The top rooms are preferred, they have more room. Some of the appliances are old (e.g., the refrigerators) but everything works and the place is immaculate. The staff is outstanding, the restaurant has great food. Try the fish and chips, the smashed peas that come along with them are great. This place gives outstanding value for your buck, particularly during the off season. Plenty of restaurants and some high class bars on the beach. Hang out in the bar/restaurant and you'll make plenty of friends.
We've stayed in Surin Bay Inn for 3 weeks during peak season (Xmas time till 2nd week of January). I must say I was impressed with the great service! We stayed in room 401, we had no balcony (some rooms have), but I didn't care, we never spend much time in our room anyways. The room was old, but very clean, had a queensized bed, a cupboard, a desk, a TV and a bathroom with toilet, wash basin and a walk in shower. The maid cleaned our room every day with perfection and gave us new bathroom towels. We booked this hotel with breakfast and enjoyed it every morning. We could choose from the menu for 200 baht, which gives you a lot for the price. (Fruit, cornflakes, thai breakfast, english breakfast, yoghurt, muesli,...) They also got very good coffee! Everybody likes it and people come especially at this restaurant to drink their coffees. The restaurant also serves an extensive menu of western and thai food, reasonably prices and very good! They also have a cosy bar where they serve beers, cocktails,.. The hotel is located right at the beachfront, so if you walk 3 minutes, you get one of the best beaches in Phuket, with lots of chairs and wonderful restaurants with a choice for everyone. I would recommend this hotel to everyone who likes having real thai hospitality combined with cheap and honest accomodation and a gorgeous breakfast. A special thanks to all the staff and to Mae and Terry!
This small hotel (12 rooms) is a real home away from home. Terry, Mai and the girls treat you like royalty. So friendly, nothing is too much trouble.
A great bar and dining room.
The rooms especially the front rooms with balcony are so spacious, With excellent bathrooms ,and spotlessly clean.
.... Ian (Melbourne : AUSTRALIA)
Friendly people, great locations near the beach. Rooms are your standard bed, balcony, hard floors but clean. I would stay here again. Not a destination, but a decent value. Paid 1500 baht for a deluxe "view" of a few power lines and a glimpse of the sea.
We stayed here 4 nights. Staff are all extremely friendly. Breakfast great and can eat anytime you like. WiFi works very well. Rooms are spacious and comfortable with fridge/Kettle + ample coffee/tea supplied. Restaurant /bar good and reasonably priced. I would not bother to book sea view room though as the view is over the street and the back rooms offer better value for money. (1100bht/night) PS: no elevator to 4th floor, so if you struggle make sure to book on lower floors.
Mai and her staff are very accommodating and hospitable and even though the Thai's are noted for that (which is true as long as you are kind too) they are among the best. Price is very reasonable and the restaurant is outstanding!
they brought down the rate for us drastically and still allowed us to have breakfast. the room was clean, spaceous, all you will need and more. the breakfast was amazing and a giant helping. they kept our stuff for us. totally worth it. and so close to the beach!
I've been to Surin Beach a few times and have stayed at different hotels each time, and by far this is my favorite. I had one of the deluxe rooms with a balcony looking toward the beach. The road isn't very noisy, so that wasn't an issue - however - on some weekends people do shoot fireworks off at the beach. But that's usually brief.
The room was extremely large, a big comfortable bed, a nice sitting area, some English language programs on the TV (not just news), mini-fridge, a nice bathroom, free wifi, and room service. The AC worked great, and the room was always spotless, as was the rest of the property. Mai, she and her husband Terry own the place, is also a wonderful hostess, and her staff is very friendly and helpful. The staff at Surin Bay Inn can arrange your tours, car rental, car service, pretty much anything you need they can handle. The only thing Surin Bay doesn't have that some of the larger properties do, is their own beach restaurant, so you have to rent your chairs down at the beach, but it's not exactly expensive..
Surin Bay Inn's location is perfect - it's as close to the beach as you can get (None of the hotels at Surin are beach front) with a peak of it from the rooms with balconies, you have to walk across a small beach road and through a path through the field to get to the beach) , near the tuk-tuks for getting around, and there's a small convenience store 2 doors down. Surin Bay Inn not only has extremely reasonable rates, but also has some great perks if you stay for more than a couple days, when booked direct their rates usually include at least a 1 way airport transfer, longer stays round trip transfers. Breakfast is usually included to, and can be eaten in your room or downstairs in the dining room/bar area.
The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the food is very good with a mix of Thai and English, and all of it can be served in your room. If you get tired of eating there, there are numerous restaurants serving almost any type of food imaginable just footsteps away, both along the main road, the road the hotels are on, and down at the beach, and Patong is a fairly short 15 - 20 min tuk tuk ride away.
Very friendly and good looking hotel with attractive rates, good service and superb location opposit beautiful Surin beach. You can select Thai, English or American breakfast which tasty and good cooked. Staff meet you with a smile 24h a day.
I booked 4 night and get free transfer from the airport. Car was nice and clean.
Even standard room is big, very clean, all furnitures in very nice conditions. Tea/coffee set, AC, TV, telephone, nice bathroom.
I'm happy to spend these days here at Surin beach. Thank you!
My friend and I stayed at Surin Bay Inn during the New Year's 2012 weekend. We chose the hotel because my cousin lives in Surin and it was an affordable option given the holiday weekend. Upon arrival at the Phuket airport we were greeted by a driver from the hotel. We brought the car around and proceeded to the hotel. The hotel offers free pick up for three nights and drop off for six nights.
The hotel front desk shares space with the restaurant in the "lobby". We checked in and were taken to our second floor room. Heads up, there is no elevator. The room was a fairly standard beach hotel room. Two twin beds, a tv, air con unit, mini fridge, a desk and chairs, and an armoire. The bathroom seemed sufficient and fairly clean. There is no clear separation between the shower and the sink area other than the thin shower curtain. Although we did not have any trouble with water spilling over.
The downstairs restaurant is also where you take breakfast in the morning. The options are fairly standard off the menu. You have the choice of one entree, but keep in mind that the only free juices are pineapple and apple. The waitresses will tell you if you ask, but I noticed multiple tables get surprised with a charge of orange juice on their bill. Overall the service of the restaurant and hotel (the waitresses serve both) was nothing to write home about. The ladies were pretty gruff and to the point. A far cry from the smiling faces of Bangkok, but according to my cousin that is how people in the South are.
We had two hiccups during our 5 nights at Surin Bay. 1) on New Year's eve the water pump broke in the evening. We came back to shower around 7pm to found out. There was a plumber working hard to fix the problem and in his defense the water was back on within 30 minutes of us being back. 2) upon check out I offered my credit card to settle up our bill. I had paid half the reservation in advance via Paypal. The woman tried to tell me that the credit card machine was "not working". I immediately called her bluff but she stuck to her story and said I should go to the ATM down the street. I refused because I would not pay the fees that my bank charges me for cash and said I would pay via Paypal like I did the first time. She said this would not work and our stand off continued. I firmly told her I would not pay any way other than credit card. She took my card without saying a word and through her magical powers must have gotten the credit card machine to work! Just an attempt to fool an unsuspecting tourist so the hotel could avoid the fee on their end, so heads up fellow travelers!
All in all a comfortable stay, given the price during the high holiday season. At any other time of the year I would explore the other more luxurious options in Surin.
I stayed at Surin Bay Inn 6 nights in February 2012.
The hotel is close to the beach and you can find restaurants, 7 eleven, a laundry and ATMs nearby.
Rooms are comfortable and good value for money. Towels for the beach are provided.
The staff is friendly and professional and can arrange transfer to and from airport for you.
There is a very good choice for breakfast (included in the room price).
We stayed here for 3 nights with a toddler. It's a great place to stay for the value, location & service. It is child friendly too. Food is good especially the Sunday Roast. It is a must! Only 2-3 minutes walk to the beach. We are definitely coming back!

We arrived in mid December 2011. Our first trip to Thailand. I would like to say how friendly and helpful the staff were. Rooms were large and clean. Location was great, just a short stroll to the beach. Well worth it, would fully recommend.
David, Milly & I stayed with you for 6 days in early November after 3 weeks in Myanmar. Unfortunately both Milly & I were unwell with a stomach complaint that we had picked up before we came to stay at Surin Bay.
I just wanted to let you know how wonderful all the staff were when Milly & I were unwell and unable to leave the room for three days. The girls in the bar helped us organise a taxi to the Bangkok Hospital, organised food to be brought to the room and were just wonderful caring people when we both felt terrible. The house keeping ladies were happy to give us clean towels or anything else we needed.
So thank you for a wonderful stay, congratulations on your wonderful staff & a fabulous restaurant.
I had a fantastic time at the Inn. It completely exceeded my expectations as a clean, low-cost accommodation with welcoming and friendly staff and warm hospitality from Mai and Terry. This is my place to stay in Phuket from now on!
Warmest regards from a very cold London (from 33 degrees to 3 degrees!)
